The 2009 Whistler Mountain Music Fest runs from Friday August 21 to Sunday August 23.

Here is the musical line up:

Saturday, August 22

Xavier RuddXavier Rudd

The critically acclaimed, heart warming and musically talented Xavier Rudd is likened to Kurt Cobain on Prozac, spreading an essential contemporary spirituality. Xavier Rudd is a unique multi-instrumentalist solo artist whose songs balance acoustic soul, rhythmic stomps, exotic percussion and modernized didgeridoo. Xavier Rudd's live performances are mesmerizing.

K'Naan

KnaanSomali-born spoken word master, the Dusty Foot philosopher and 2006 Juno winner for Rap Recording of the year. K'Naan offers a brand of folk-protest-infused hip hop that has dubbed him a "conscious rapper".

Daniel Wesley

The trio, singer/guitarist Daniel Wesley, bassist Pietro Marco Luongo and drummer Alex Glassford III hail from Vancouver, where they've been storming the Westcoast music scene since forming in January 2007. A hybrid sound of beach, roots, reggae and rock that channels Sublime, the Red Hot Chili Peppres, Jack Johnson and Pearl Jam.

Ash Grunwald

Grunwald is a soulful bluesman in the most pure sense. Raised in outer Melbourne, he first picked up a guitar at the sprightly age of ten. Grunwald was a late bloomer. Now 31, he was in his early twenties when he made his debut playing live. Living in inner Melbourne and immersing himself in the city's blues scene, he frequently attended blues jams.

Ghost Brothers

Ghost Brothers Vasudeva “V” and Govinda “G” Clayton’s various turns living in Hawaii, Detroit, West Virginia, India, and now Vancouver contributed to their refreshing style, combining pop, reggae, urban, world and surf rock.

Sunday, August 23

DJ Z-Trip

DJ Z-TripDJ Z-Trip will headline the main stage on Saturday night... He’s opened for the Rolling Stones, played Bonaroo’s main stage, headlined Coachella and headlined Australia’s Good Vibrations Festival and the Big Day Out. His major label debut, Shifting Gears, (which followed early indie releases that have become sought after collectibles), was 4-starred in Rolling Stone. In 2008, he played for the troops in Kuwait and then threw fundraisers for the Obama campaign with former TWSSF exhibitor Shepard Fairey.

The Greyboy Allstars

An acid jazz band that focuses less on jazz and more on groove-oriented dance music, the Greyboy Allstars came together in 1993 when noted rare-groove DJ Greyboy (aka Andreas Stevens) met up with Karl Denson, a saxophone player who was then touring with Lenny Kravitz. The pair collaborated on two tracks for Ubiquity Records' Home Cookin' compilation, and then worked on Greyboy's 1994 solo album for Ubiquity, Freestylin'. After forming their own label, Greyboy Records, the duo gradually amassed members for a house band -- guitarist Michael Andrews (formerly with the Origin), bassist Chris Stillwell, drummer Zak Najor, and keyboard player Robert Walter.

Five Alarm Funk

Five Alarm Funk is Vancouver’s own 11-piece Afrobeat-Funk-Jazz Orchestra. Since 2003, the band has brought their relentless grooves to clubs and many major festivals across Western Canada and are always asked to keep coming back. Intense horn lines and percolating Afro-Beat guitar combined with the interplay of four percussionists creates an impression undescribable.

Garaj Mahal

When you hear your first Garaj Mahal note, leading into an innovative fusion of funky jazz with a tasty world music flare, all other thoughts leave your mind as the music takes you on an unforgettable voyage. Fans return to experience the band again and again because they know they will always hear something new and progressive from these four first-class musicians.
